Philips MR Patient Coaching Service for Children

Concept / Professional

Helping children (age 4-8) feel less anxious for their MRI scan through an interactive, gamified patient preparation solution.

Undergoing an MRI-scan can be a daunting experience for young children, who have to lay still in an unfamiliar, noisy machine for 20 to 40 minutes. As such, children often receive anesthesia before an MRI-scan. Anesthesia may have negative health effects, increases time spend at the hospital, and it is very costly.

With this solution we want to empower children to be active partners in their MRI journey. By doing so we aim to improve their health and well-being, reduce stress their parents have, while positively impacting the hospital’s clinical procedures.

Our design concept and the prototype has been enthusiastically received by children, parents, and healthcare professionals in multiple countries and clinical sites.
