Overview
The mobile medical intensive care unit prototype aims to enable health organizations to rapidly increase bed capacity during pandemics without compromising optimized clinical care. The concept features a suite of integrated technology that is tailored to support optimized clinical workflows in tandem with a modular, scalable building platform. The design is the result of a cross disciplinary collaboration between front line providers, technology engineers, data scientists and architectural designers in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. While the primary configuration concerns infectious disease workflow, the modular system could be utilized in other rapid response situations such as earthquakes, hurricanes and humanitarian crises. The team is currently in discussions with government and relief agencies about further developing the concept, with the goal of building and testing a full-scale prototype of the design.
