Dan helps governments deliver digital services that meet user needs. He is former Editorial Director at Code for America, where he worked to make building digital government that works easy to understand and easy to copy. Dan also helped found the State of California’s first Digital Service.

Prior to Code for America, Dan took a detour into the world of advertising at Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Oregon. At W+K, Dan was a Creative Director on Facebook, Sony and Nike accounts, where he helped combine the agency’s talent for creating emotional work with a native digital brand advertising, products and services strategy.

A recovered lawyer with an MSc in Software Engineering, Dan helped create Mind Candy’s alternate reality game Perplex City, and co-founded Six to Start, winner of SXSW’s Best of Show, Best Experimental and Best Game awards.
