Spacemaker: Design better cities with AI

MyMachine DreamsDrop is a brand-new complimentary program, turning our inter-generational co-design methodology into a cross-border collaboration: it's an online world map that invites anyone (adults and children alike) to upload their dream machine idea. In addition, we run an annual open call to primary school teachers to join their class, combined with a call to university professors to participate with their students.

The BioDesign Studio is a new permanent exhibition created by The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose and NYC-based experience design studio, Local Projects. For the first time ever, it makes the burgeoning — and complex — fields of synthetic biology, bioengineering, biological design and DIY biology accessible to the public in an engaging and tangible way. To demystify these cutting-edge fields and technologies, visitors are able to play, tinker and design with the building blocks of life…literally.

Amoeba revolutionizes the workspace post-pandemic by addressing challenges in office relocations, significantly reducing wire waste and rewiring costs while enhancing sustainability. Rewiring costs, typically accounting for 25-40% of the total relocating or renovating budget, have been a significant hurdle.

With a brief to explore innovations in the area of space design and placemaking, we decided to look at low-cost and low-entry-barrier solutions that would allow us to engage the local population in public consultations.

The Waste Land for iPad is the result of a year long collaboration between the poem’s publisher Faber and Faber, and Touch Press a digital publisher specialising in highly interactive books. Our aim was to bring the poem to a new audience and to use the special capabilities of the iPad to give that audience the tools to appreciate perhaps one of the greatest works of 20th Century literature. To that end we offer synchronised readings and performances of the poem by, among others, T S Eliot himself, Sir Alec Guinness and Fiona Shaw. We also provide 35 expert perspectives on the poem in the form of filmed interviews with Seamus Heaney, Jeanette Winterson and others. Extensive and detailed notes can be accessed to explain the many references and historic allusions. And Eliot’s original manuscript can be displayed, including Ezra Pound’s extensive edits and deletions, to show how the poem took shape. But at the core of the iPad edition is the poem itself, beautifully typeset and, with a quick turn of the device, uncluttered and carefully presented without embellishment.

Story Tree is a project that encourages children to express themselves and create their own stories. In this project, our mission statement is to establish an appealing storytelling experience for children and guide them to create their own stories. Through telling stories, exercise children’s imagination and expression ability, guide them to develop the habit of thinking and creating, and establish a closer family relationship through parent-child interaction.

From coffee shops to workspaces, we gather around other people—who we may or may not know—as much for the atmosphere as for any specific conversation, collaboration, or task. Increasingly, we are occupied by a myriad of devices that connect us to others beyond the physical space we occupy. This immediately disconnects us from those in the here and now. Personal Billboard is a design exploration that engages people to interact and express who they are to those in the same proximity using a dual-screen laptop (a laptop that has an additional screen on the cover of the device).We believe there is an opportunity to create connections between people in the same physical space through digital expressions on a dual-screen laptop. We developed a Windows 8 app that lets people quickly post text and images to the external-facing screen of the laptop. Other people in the same proximity can interact with that content digitally (by “liking”, voting on, or getting a copy of displayed content), or they can begin a conversation that wouldn’t have otherwise happened without Personal Billboard. This project redefines what it means to be social with a digital device.

The Norwegian Defence Estate Agency (NDEA) took over responsibility for housing and quartering Military personell January 1st 2015, services earlier provided by the Armed Forces directly.

Material Design is Google’s open-source design system that serves as the foundation for Android 13. Our latest version, Material You, enables designers and developers to easily build beautiful, usable interfaces. In reimagining the interaction patterns and visual language of Material Design, the team wanted to expand the discourse of design systems beyond usability and consistency, ultimately asking: what if form followed feeling? When we created Material You, we explored possibilities and polarities of scalable UI systems, arriving at more flexible color, shape, typography, and motion ranges for app makers to build with. The new system is expressive and surprising, without compromising UX best practices. To make our system feel more alive and customizable, we tested the limits of conventional UX beliefs – those long held beliefs and modernist paradigms, such as predictable = usable, and we pushed on inherited one-size-fits-all models for manufacturing hardware and software. The team that made Material You imagined a system for adaptable, expressive, personal experiences that work for you…whomever “you” are.

The Healthcare sector has witnessed an exponential growth in infrastructure and technology all around the world but at the same time, India being a developing country faces its share of hurdles. The Healthcare sector in India lacks emphasis on patient and Healthcare worker experience. There is a need to design an effective and efficient solution that caters to the needs of the Healthcare stakeholders (patients & healthcare workers). Artemis 389 is designed to provide an effortless and pain-free experience to the healthcare stakeholders involved in the activity of patient transfers.
