Xiangyang Xin, PhD, founder of XXY Innovation, Professor at Tongji University. Xin holds a PhD in Design from Carnegie Mellon University with interests in interaction, experience, service, and organization design, and looks at how design contributes to transformations of lifestyles, businesses and cultures. He had founded MDes Interaction Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and served as former Dean of Design at Jiangnan University and acted as a guest professor in both design and business schools at several universities.

But for a child, that’s not actually true, everything has to be discovered from the start. Today, urban children are spending time indoors more than ever before. Parents and educators are concerned that young children are not using their senses actively and don’t have enough possibilities for explorative learning. Current play experiences invite children to look at new, fictional worlds, which causes them to stop using their wild imaginations. With this project I wanted to ask, instead of providing new things for children to look at, what if we could equip the children with new ways to see and explore the world with?

By learning through a design sensibility and “dirt-under-your-fingernails” construction skills, we’re developing creativity, critical thinking, citizenship, and capital to give students the skills they need to succeed, while building the assets the community needs to survive. Given the opportunity to engage within a public education system, we believe the next generation will be the greatest asset and untapped resource in rural communities’ futures. Studio H is a different kind of classroom. We design, build, and transform.

Tutkihankintoja.fi improves transparency in the use of public funds and provides information on the market to companies.

FRICKbits is a self-quantification application that reveals the art hidden within your daily patterns. The result of a collaboration with data artist, Laurie Frick, FRICKbits tracks your everyday movements, expressing them as unique and personal data portraits.

Nike+ was an experiment that revolutionized sport. With its launch seven years ago, we started a journey with Nike that has taken them from a company that manufactures shoes and apparel, to a company that makes products and services.Nike+ tapped into a community of runners with an existing behavior. Elite runners use the Nike+ platform to track their runs. We created a functional platform for athletes who wanted to understand their performance and improve on it. But even though Nike+ was a phenomenon for athletes worldwide, it wasn't optimizing its audience.We saw a greater opportunity in bringing performance tracking to the masses. But the question was: How do we bring Nike+ to a larger audience? How do we get people to adopt a new behavior?In order to bring Nike+ to the masses, we didn't just launch a new productwe transformed the way people measure performance by introducing a new metric called Nike Fuel. For the first time, the Nike+ FuelBand lets anyone who's active to compare themselves with anyone else.
