TactorBots is a haptic toolkit to empower designers to explore emotional robotic touch. It contains eight plug-and-play wearable tactor modules that render a series of social gestures driven by servo motors. Our specialized web GUI allows easy control, modification, and storage of tactile patterns to support fast prototyping. Taking emotional haptics as a “design canvas” with broad opportunities, TactorBots is the first “playground” for designers to try out various tactile sensations, feel around the nuanced connection between touches and emotions, and come up with creative imaginations.

Nike+ was an experiment that revolutionized sport. With its launch seven years ago, we started a journey with Nike that has taken them from a company that manufactures shoes and apparel, to a company that makes products and services.Nike+ tapped into a community of runners with an existing behavior. Elite runners use the Nike+ platform to track their runs. We created a functional platform for athletes who wanted to understand their performance and improve on it. But even though Nike+ was a phenomenon for athletes worldwide, it wasn't optimizing its audience.We saw a greater opportunity in bringing performance tracking to the masses. But the question was: How do we bring Nike+ to a larger audience? How do we get people to adopt a new behavior?In order to bring Nike+ to the masses, we didn't just launch a new productwe transformed the way people measure performance by introducing a new metric called Nike Fuel. For the first time, the Nike+ FuelBand lets anyone who's active to compare themselves with anyone else.

Lotza.io is a review site and an online community carefully designed to cater to individual needs, where users can contribute their opinions on subscription services and direct-to-consumer products. The platform boasts a unique emotional-based rating system that tracks sentiment over time, enabling users to express their feelings about a brand over time. The platform provides a breadth of different media - from text to video to audio - to allow people to express themselves in the way that they feel most comfortable. Partners also benefit from Lotza's contextual feedback, enabling them to enhance their product offerings. Finally, Lotza finds the most relevant online products and subscription services that match an individual’s personal tastes.

Similar to how GPS technology helps people to navigate physical infrastructure, the IBM Cloud Infrastructure Visualizer maps out virtual network infrastructure and converts it into an interactive map. This birds-eye view allows users to visualize how resources are interconnected, how are they configured, and suggests actions to take in case something isn’t working as expected. With this tool, IT Administrators will no longer be stuck navigating their virtual infrastructure and instead, they can focus their energies on other tasks that require their technical expertise more and bring value to their enterprises.

While typically not represented by keepsakes, memories of food are some of my strongest. Last year I tried to bring a feeling of comfort back to the isolated existence I experienced in America in the midst of a global pandemic, through food and cooking. Working with spices common in my family’s recipes and incorporating them into a textile allowed me to capture the comfort of scent; just the smell of a spice can trigger fond, powerful memories and transport you to a specific place and time. As a textile designer, I used food and sensorial memories to make home almost palpable- within reach. Through the magic of fragrance, I not only wanted to invite people to experience the warmth of my kitchen, but wanted to design a fabric that they could take, easily transport and use in their own spaces to comfort themselves when they felt isolated. Woven on the Jacquard Loom, Aromatics is an amalgamation of technology and handiwork. The textile is filled with spices commonly used in my family's Indian recipes. Designed with a complex woven structure to form a transparent 3-D gauze weave, pockets are woven in to the fabric that can be filled. Aromatics was made to be hung on a wall with the intention to fill up a space with warmth and envelope it in the aroma of spices. Interactive, sensorial and comforting- This textile is the materialisation of nostalgia through food.

Individuals with cerebral palsy live in a world that is not designed for them. Even simple tasks, like holding a computer mouse, can be a challenge. It’s the objects we design that create these barriers for them. Adæpt wants to help by designing a computer accessible tool that enables people with cerebral palsy to access the digital world without limitations.

Atopic eczema is a very itchy, chronic, non-contagious, inflammatory skin condition that affects approximately 10-20 percent of the world’s population. Due to changes in our modern daily lifestyle, it has become 2-3 times more prevalent today, compared to 40 years ago. There is no single cause of eczema: it can be inherited, caused by environmental factors, or a combination of both. An incremental lifestyle change is believed to improve one’s condition, but correlating behavioral changes with itchiness severity is difficult to measure, highly subjective, and often overlooked.
