Project description

Dual Screen Interpreter Mode reimagines the Assistant Interpreter for the form factor and features of the Pixel Fold opportunity.

We designed Dual Screen Interpreter Mode to reimagine Assistant Interpreter for the form factor and features of the Pixel Fold Opportunity: Effective communication helps people achieve their goals, but language differences often impede the free flow of ideas.

The challenge was to develop a product that helps remove these barriers. We empower users to engage effortlessly, regardless of their native languages.

  • Seamlessness: Users activate the feature with a simple gesture or voice command. The Pixel Fold's adaptable form factor unfolds the device to show translations on dual screens on opposite sides of the device, in easy view for both participants, creating a shared space for conversation.
  • Real-time Translation: Leveraging Google's language processing, Interpreter offers real-time translation for fluid conversations.
  • Contextual Understanding: Going beyond word-for-word translation, Interpreter is localized, taking into consideration cultural nuances and context.
  • Audience: Dual Screen Interpreter Mode facilitates smooth and natural conversation for users who need to communicate with others speaking a different language.

It is designed for a wide range of users, including:

  • Travelers who can more comfortably navigate unfamiliar destinations, communicate with locals, and seek assistance without language barriers.
  • People in multilingual workspaces who can use this to converse with more diverse clientele and provide a more inclusive work environment.
  • Service providers who can remove communication barriers while providing essential government or humanitarian services to individuals and communities that speak a different language.
  • Individuals living, working or studying in multilingual communities, who would benefit from smoother everyday interactions and bridged cultural divides.
