Street debaters use a set of scales that makes public opinion visible with coins to evoke a discussion with the passerby. This job aims to promote empathy and tolerance in society by creating an opportunity for people to break out of their own social bubble to meet people with different opinions.

In 2007, the world’s most visited website was Yahoo.com, and the iPhone was considered “technology with potential.” It’s also the year that Zendesk took its first bold steps into customer service. Unlike other solutions at the time, Zendesk aimed to deliver a beautifully simple experience for customer support agents. Much has changed since 2007. Social media has quickened the pace of communication and mobile apps have made it 24/7. The invention of applications like Messenger, WhatsApp, and WeChat have added complexity to customer service. Each app represents a new communication channel, and for support agents, switching between them means lumbering between disjointed dashboards.

In September 2012, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and the Quartier des Spectacles announced that Megaphone, a project imagined by Moment Factory, had been chosen following a call for ideas sent out in April 2012. Artists, collectives and production companies from all fields had been invited to submit a proposal for an interactive installation that would spark reflection on how to reconcile the individual and the group. In addition to its unique character and plastic qualities , Megaphone seduced the jury with its urban and polemical spirit, and its potential to give anonymous urban dwellers an opportunity to shine by allowing them to speak out in a public space. The project engendered a wealth of ideas and knowledge, and the creative team sought to ensure that the technology used would generate imagery that matched the words being spoken . The Megaphone project inspired visual artists to push the limits of vocal recognition technology—which is still in its infancy—in order to find creative ways of representing multiple voices and images, all while ensuring both artistic cohesion and the success of an experiment premised on the interaction between human beings and machines.

Feeling Climate Crisis is a series of kinetic data sculptures that visualize the ongoing climate crisis. These sculptures are made with natural plant parts juxtaposed with electromechanical elements. Together they create movement patterns that express climate data. The project creates an experience that allows viewers to ‘feel climate data’. Each sculpture expresses a specific data parameter from the list of planetary vital signs. These parameters include surface temperature change, per capita CO2 emissions, global tree cover loss, etc. Each parameter has historical data starting from 1978 to 2018. Data is referenced from a paper titled World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency.

SWYP (See What You Print) radically simplifies printing by giving you the ability to see and manipulate, in a 1:1 scale, what the finished result will look like before you print. The underlying idea is that many common problems, including the wasting of time and paper, could be fixed by making all aspects of the printing interaction more natural, predictable and understandable.
