Project description
VISO's aim is to provide a transformative solution accessible to a broad audience, bringing attention to how in-car technology could be harnessed to enhance focus, rather than serve as a distraction.
Distracted driving is a growing crisis, contributing to 1 in 4 traffic accidents in the United States. In response, this project reimagines the driving experience with a strong emphasis on enhancing focus and safety. Meet VISO, the AR-HUD display that seamlessly integrates critical information into the driver's line of sight, enabling hands-free control and enhancing situational awareness with a spatial compass. VISO prioritizes visual and haptic alerts at complex intersections, extending the driver's field of vision by identifying hazards in blind spots to prevent accidents. The system takes into account the driver's cognitive load, delivering information and alerts based on the urgency of the driving scenario. When it detects driver distraction or fatigue, the car alerts the driver, and the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) takes over. Essentially, VISO offers a new perspective on car infotainment design, advocating that technology can be harnessed to enhance focus and safeguard safety, at a time before full autonomous vehicles become a widespread reality.
