Project description
Behind the glamour and entertainment of live events there is always a production crew working fast to manage multiple people and data points in an often linear and disconnected environment. Seeing the big picture is difficult, and a lot of hours of manual labor are required to keep track of everything. Balls get dropped, errors get made, and work that needs to be accurate, fast, and on time, eventually turns into a debacle.
When watching live events like the MTV Video Music Awards or the NBA All-Star Games we get to watch months of effort gracefully unfold in front of the cameras. We don’t see what happens behind the scenes, or all the work that must be done before lights, camera, and action are possible. Consider what it takes to produce a televised live event. The amount of people and information that need to be collected, connected, and easily accessed is astounding. Travel details, talent management, technical specifications, site documentation, requests, to-dos, communications, lead-tracking, and so much more.
dBocl is a software application created to support producers who orchestrate televised live events. It supports frictionless access to data sets by utilizing an interface that acts more like a brain than a dashboard. Conventional methods for organization, like tables and dashboards, don’t allow the production team to see how everything fits together.
dBocl allows live event producers and staff to act fast by connecting the details that matter most at various stages in the production lifecycle. Producers work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment with little time to learn new software, so dBocl works how they work. With seamless movement between the big picture and tiny details, producers can quickly understand the full landscape, logistical intersections, and how they impact each other. It’s an elegant solution that allows navigating at speed, while adding and referencing information from wherever they happen to be.
