The aim of this project was to act as an initial research probe into this technology, taking a human centered design approach, to explore how the surgeon’s could interact with a system like this. The two main goals were to: firstly, develop a user interface that could display the decision made by the AI algorithm in an understandable way so that the surgeon could enact on it and secondly, develop a standardised workflow for the biopsy, excision and anastomosis procedures as the key theme in this field is a lack of standardisation. The final design of the system has been developed to be controlled by gestural inputs. In a real world scenario, there would be an accompanying manual input.

Sonivivi is an interactive mobile application that helps people who are partially blind, or those who have recently lost their eyesight to become more self-sufficient in their daily life. As the intended use of Sonivivi is for the visually impaired, the interface does not rely on sight, but instead focuses on using gestural interfaces and audio feedback to navigate through three-dimensional audio space in order to improve the user's listening skills. Sonivivi offers an enjoyable and less labor-intensive alternative to traditional methods of learning. It facilitates a self-directed and empathetic learning experience and can be used as a support tool both for educational organizations and parents who have visually impaired children.

Small to medium sized shops account for 80% of the machining market. 70% of parts are programmed manually at the CNC machine — on an interface stuck in the 80’s. Designit partnered with Sandvik to redefine industrial machining workflows with Prism, the first computer-aided manufacturing app for iPad. It manages the entire cycle of machining and enables less experienced operators to create the programs that control CNC machines to drill, mill and carve out the parts we want to create.

When developing SquareTalk, our goal was to explore ways that we could use tacit technologies to foster a sense of connectedness between strangers at large-scale festival events.

Peer is a Mixed Reality platform that uses a combination of physical and digital elements to engage students by making abstract concepts and complex forces visible and tangible. Traditional education relies on textbooks, videos, memorization, testing, and instruction in order to teach students about “hard to see” and “invisible” science topics. Although this method of teaching was successful in the past, new teaching methods like S.T.E.A.M. and maker education are making impact in the classroom by changing the way students learn—by doing.

In Uganda, the poor have limited financial options. Without birth certificates or national IDs, there is no identity or credit history. The poor are invisible to formal institutions. Invisibility means that when farmers need to plant crops they have no credit to buy seeds, or when a family member is ill they have no savings to pay for treatment.

Focusing on the phenomenon of preschool children’s reluctance to brush their teeth, this project is designed to provide preschool children aged 3-6 years old with a series of smart toothbrush products.

Data Cubed has developed a fully integrated electronic data capture platform and cross-platform app, designed using gaming mechanics and reward-driven behavior change to increase participation and improve retention for clinical trials. Data collection is fully automated, gamified, and engaging, using human centered principles and modern technology.

Sway is an engaging ‘interactive meditation’ experience making mindfulness available to everyone anywhere, anytime. It uses your phone to track movement and provides feedback to help you gain focus and improve your attention. With six unique levels, you will learn new techniques to be mindful in everyday life situations and subtly practice mindfulness anytime and anywhere.

We are a development team from an Estonian government organization (IT and Development Centre of the Ministry of the Interior). Our team is specialized in police systems which are used outside in the street in police cars. The development team consists of 15 members. We are entering this project into the disrupting category as the developed system is playing role in our security and the more officers want to use it the more secured our society becomes. Since 2004 Estonian police has been using a query system in their cars. 10 years is a long period for an IT system. In 2015 we started to develop a product called APOLLO, which would replace the old system. Currently our team is working on the new ePolice product which helps police officers to get information they need “in the field” without using walkie-talkies.
